Tally needs both ledger names exactly as they are in your company.
New company? Download the ledger setup file too and import it first (Import, then Masters).QuickBooks Desktop needs both account names exactly as they are in your chart of accounts.
QuickBooks makes any account it doesn’t know into a new bank account, so check the spelling.- Runs in your browser

- QFX in, CSV out
01 / Why convert
A .qfx file only means something to Quicken. As CSV, the same transactions open anywhere and import into any app that takes a spreadsheet.
02 / What carries over
From QFX to CSV, field by field.
What the QFX file can hold, and where it goes in the CSV file.
| In the QFX file | In the CSV file |
|---|---|
| Date | Kept |
| Amount (money in and out) | Kept |
| Payee or description | Kept |
| Memo (extra text) | Kept |
| Check or reference number | Reference column |
| Bank’s transaction ID (FITID) | CSV has no place for it |
| Running balance | Not in a QFX file |
| Account number | CSV has no place for it |
| Currency | CSV has no place for it |
| Credit card (not a bank account) | CSV has no place for it |
03 / Opening it
Opening the CSV file.
Excel
- Data, then From Text/CSV, then pick the file. Dates are written 2026-01-05, which Excel reads the same in every country.
Google Sheets or Numbers
- File, then Import (Sheets) or Open (Numbers).
Accounting apps
- Most apps that take a bank CSV ask you to match columns once: Date, Description, Debit, Credit.
04 / The QFX file
Getting a Quicken Web Connect file (.qfx).
The same thing as a .qbo, made for Quicken: OFX with Intuit’s bank id. Quicken reads the bank’s transaction IDs to skip what it already has.
- Online banking: Transactions, then Download, then “Quicken Web Connect (.qfx)”.
Have a bank statement PDF instead? The bank statement converter reads it in your browser too.
05 / Good to know
The details that matter.
- A QFX file with several accounts (checking and savings in one download, say) lets you choose the account.
- OFX 1.x and 2.x are both read, along with the bank’s corrections to earlier transactions.
- Columns: Date, Description, then Memo, Reference and Category when the file has them, then Debit and Credit, and Balance when the file had one. UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so Excel shows accents and ₹ signs correctly.
06 / Questions
Straight answers.
Is this QFX to CSV converter free?
Yes, for 2 files a day with no account. A free account (just your email, no password) gives you 2 more, and paid plans have no daily limit. It runs in your browser, and nothing is stored.
Is my QFX file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and the CSV file is written by code running in this browser tab. Neither is sent to a server. You can check: open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab, and convert a file.
Which columns will the CSV file have?
Date, Description, then Memo, Reference and Category when the QFX file has them, then Debit (money out) and Credit (money in), and Balance when the file had a running balance. Dates are real dates, oldest first.
My QFX file has several accounts. Which one is converted?
The first, until you choose another: when a file holds more than one account (checking and savings, say), the panel lists them all.
07 / More converters
Other files, same idea.
All of them run in your browser. For PDFs, start at the bank statement converter; every converter is on the converters page.
