01 / Why convert

A printable report of the transactions in a QIF register.

02 / What carries over

From QIF to PDF, field by field.

What the QIF file can hold, and where it goes in the report.

03 / Opening it

Reading and printing the report.

Any computer or phone

  1. Open it in any PDF viewer, or print it.
  2. Every page is headed “Transaction report” and says it is not a bank statement.

04 / The QIF file

Getting a QIF file.

Quicken Interchange Format, an older plain-text format. Quicken, GnuCash, Microsoft Money, Banktivity and MoneyWiz read it. It has no account numbers or transaction IDs.

  • Quicken: File, then Export, then QIF File.
  • GnuCash and Microsoft Money export QIF, and some banks still offer it as a download.

Have a bank statement PDF instead? The bank statement converter reads it in your browser too.

05 / Good to know

The details that matter.

  • Quicken’s “Opening Balance” record becomes the opening balance, not a transaction. Investment registers and category lists are skipped, and a file with several accounts lets you pick one.
  • Dates like 03/04/2026 can mean March or April. The order is worked out from the file (a day over 12 decides it), and you can switch it when nothing does.
  • The report never looks like a bank statement: it is titled “Transaction report”, says on every page that it is not a bank statement, shows only the last 4 digits of the account number, and has no bank name or balance boxes.

06 / Questions

Straight answers.

Is this QIF to PDF converter free?

Yes, for 2 files a day with no account. A free account (just your email, no password) gives you 2 more, and paid plans have no daily limit. It runs in your browser, and nothing is stored.

Is my QIF file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and the PDF file is written by code running in this browser tab. Neither is sent to a server. You can check: open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab, and convert a file.

Is the PDF a bank statement?

No, and it is made so it can’t pass for one. It is a transaction report: titled as such, marked “Not a bank statement. Not issued by a bank.” on every page, with no bank name, logo or balance boxes, and only the last 4 digits of the account number.

How are dates read?

QIF files write dates in the order of the program that made them (MM/DD in the US, DD/MM in most other places). The order is worked out from the dates themselves, and you can switch it in the panel when nothing in the file decides it.
