HDFC Bank statement password
The PDF you downloaded from NetBanking or the HDFC Bank app is locked. The password is one number you already have.
Short answer
Your numeric Customer ID. The same number you use as your NetBanking User ID.
Not on HDFC Bank’s site, so not here either: HDFC credit card statements. We don’t guess passwords.

- Customer ID, digits only

The HDFC statement password
Your numeric Customer ID. The same number you use as your NetBanking User ID. HDFC Bank gives it for this statement: Downloaded from NetBanking or the HDFC Bank app.
| Your statement | Password | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Downloaded from NetBanking or the HDFC Bank app | Your numeric Customer ID. The same number you use as your NetBanking User ID. | 12345678 |
| HDFC credit card statements | HDFC Bank’s website doesn’t say what the password for a credit card statement is, so we don’t list one. Rules you see elsewhere are not from HDFC. | |

The password, piece by piece
Each box is one character, as on a bank form. Open “Work out yours” under a password to type your own details: the boxes fill in with your password, right here in the page.

Our exampleA made-up Customer ID of 12345678.Password: 12345678
- HDFC Bank calls it “your numerical Customer ID” and says it is the password to the statement file.
Work out yours
Fill these in and the boxes above show your password.
Worked out in this tab as you type. Nothing is saved, and nothing is sent anywhere.
In HDFC Bank’s words
“Your numerical Customer ID is the password to statement file.”
Open it and convert it, right here
Drop the locked PDF in the box. When it asks, type the password. The statement opens inside this browser tab and comes out as Excel or CSV (or, with a free account, as a file for Tally), with every row checked against the statement’s own balances.
The PDF and the password stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and you can check that yourself in your browser’s Network tab.
Not tested on an HDFC statement yet
We haven’t had a real HDFC Bank statement to test with. The converter checks every statement the same way: if the rows don’t add up to the closing balance, it tells you before you download anything.
Still won’t open?
Go down this list before you call the bank. Most locked-out moments are one of these.
- Type it, don’t paste it. A pasted password can carry a space at the start or end, and PDF readers count it.
- Download it again. A statement that didn’t finish downloading, or was forwarded and re-saved, can refuse every password. Get a fresh copy from the bank.
- Ask HDFC Bank. Banks change these rules. We checked HDFC’s on 6 October 2026; if what we show no longer works, the bank can tell you, and we’d like to hear too so we can fix this page.

Questions
I don’t know my HDFC Customer ID. Where do I find it?
HDFC Bank prints it on the first page of your chequebook, your passbook and your account statement, and in the welcome letter from when you opened the account. Online: on the NetBanking login page, click the “?” icon, enter your registered mobile number and your PAN or date of birth, then the OTP, and the Customer ID is shown.
Is the password my NetBanking password?
No. It is your Customer ID, which is your NetBanking user ID (the login name), not the secret password you type after it.
Does the same password work for a statement I got from the app?
Yes. HDFC Bank gives the same answer for both: statements downloaded from NetBanking and from the HDFC Bank app open with your Customer ID.
Can I convert an HDFC statement to Excel without removing the password first?
Yes. Drop the locked PDF into the converter on this page and type the Customer ID when it asks. The PDF is opened inside your browser tab; the file and the password are never uploaded.
